Alyssa and Grant’s summer wedding at Oak Pointe Country Club in Brighton, Michigan was truly a perfect summer day. With blue, partly sunny skies, warm weather and a wedding party ready to have a d*** good time, you couldn’t ask for much more.
I knew after Alyssa and Grant’s downtown Detroit engagement session that this day would be beautiful. And, I mean, how much more photogenic can you get than Alyssa?? These two made my job easy, that’s for sure.
Alyssa and Grant met online but it took some time before they actually went on their first date. But ultimately, Alyssa agreed to meet Grant for dinner, and as they say, the rest is history. Life took them from long-distance between Michigan and Chicago, and then a move to Grand Rapids, Michigan. And Grant took Alyssa out all the way to Colorado when he proposed on Loveland Pass. After a few years together, their summer wedding at Oak Pointe was the perfect celebration of their life together.
I met Alyssa and her girls at the country club while Kate met Grant and the guys at a family-friends home nearby. Alyssa got ready with her mom and sister before doing a first-look with her dad. She looked stunning in her dress from Here Comes the Bride boutique! Meanwhile, Grant and his groomsmen suited up before taking a boat over to the Country Club.
Grant saw Alyssa during their first-look under the most romantic and picturesque willow tree. They read personal vows they had written to one another and opened their gifts to one another. They had each picked out a perfume/cologne for the other person to wear for the big day. How fun!
After a few photos of Alyssa and Grant, their wedding party joined in on the fun. The bridesmaid’s dusty rose dresses from David’s Bridal were the perfect compliment to the blue Men’s Wearhouse suits of the guys. And to top it off, Alyssa’s pink and white bouquet with lots of greenery gave a fun, almost tropical vibe, perfect for a Michigan summer wedding.
After making our way back to the club house, guests started arriving for their outdoor ceremony overlooking the water. And to everyone’s surprise, Alyssa came down the aisle with what looked like a whole new dress! She added a skirt overlay to her fitted dress, giving her two dresses in one and a surprise element for Grant. It was the perfect dress moment! And after the ceremony and some family photos, Alyssa and I had some fun playing with her dress and the beautiful train before she took off the overlay and switched into sneakers for the reception.
From then on, it was party time. After speeches and dinner, Alyssa, Grant and I snuck out to enjoy the summer sunset peaking through the clouds before they returned inside for their special dances. The rest of the night was dancing, glow sticks and even a sparkler exit with many of their guests.
Alyssa and Grant’s dusty rose and blue summer wedding at Oak Pointe Country Club was full of sweet, fun moments. Their calm and relaxed nature and their love for one another was evident in the way they looked at each other, setting the tone for a wonderful day of celebrating.
