“Eloping” is a word that’s come up in popularity a lot recently but doesn’t really hold the original definition of the word anymore. Rather than running off to be married in secrecy, today, eloping typically entails creating an intimate wedding day that[s completely and only about the two of you. I love big traditional weddings, believe me, but my adventurous side loves elopements and there are a lot of reasons to consider eloping! The first being that for far less than the price of a larger wedding, you can head off to epic locations anywhere you want, like, the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. This pastel-inspired boho elopement shoot is here to serve up some inspiration as you plan your elopement or wedding day!
Designed by a Detroit, Michigan-based vendor team, this elopement shoot was inspired by the pastel sky, the serenity of the land and wide open spaces and the whimsical nature of the Bonneville Salt Flats outside of Salt Lake City, Utah. all of which are the antithesis to the somber winters and overcast skies that we know oh-so well during midwest winters.
After falling for the whimsical bell sleeves of the Lulu’s lace wedding dress, I knew I wanted a suit that was unique and loved the dusty pink suit from Stitch and Tie that complimented the beachy and pastel elements of the scenery in a fun yet casual way.
Brandi from Lee Floral Design created the most enchanting bouquet, combining dried and fresh florals for a textural overload (in only the best way possible) that was the perfect pop against the lace of Megan’s dress and the colors of Trey’s suit.
Everything about the shoot is a little undone – long flowing hair with soft curls, just a jacket, no-tie, and unfinished long ribbon on the bouquet. And while wind may not sound like an elopement day’s best friend, in this case, it made the moments and the photos. The wind brought movement and energy that couldn’t have been a more perfect reminder that when you embrace the mess and the elements, that’s when the magic happens and in simplicity, there’s a lot of beauty.
