Ronnie has one of the best sense of humors out there and was one of my really good friends from our college days at the University of Michigan, responsible for a lot of laughs, bike rides across town and Sunday breakfast with the friend group at the local Benny’s diner. I was super excited when Ronnie moved to Detroit about a year after I did and our Sunday brunches turned into happy hours with new friends. And pretty soon after, I briefly met this really sweet girl, Monica, (who also happened to be a UofM alum) that Ronnie had met on a dating app, at a “house-warming” party Ronnie threw to celebrate his move to Detroit and getting settled into his new place!
Their first date was at Eastern Market’s annual flower day (umm, hi, how cool?) and now, about a year later, Monica and Ronnie are engaged! It’s been so fun to go from hearing Ronnie’s dating stories in college to now meeting and getting to know Monica. I’m so excited to document this exciting time in their lives and ultimately their wedding day next year. Monica brings out the best in Ronnie and I can’t wait to see what life brings them!
When I sat down with the two of them to chat engagement photos, we looked at the upcoming weather and realized that one of our final sunny days in Michigan seemed to be 2 days away! Ronnie and Monica were hoping for a golden hour session so we jumped on the opportunity and did their engagement session on Belle Isle, where Ronnie proposed, just two days later!
And it was so worth it – it was still warm, the trees were changing for fall and the light was perfect. Congratulations you two! I can’t wait to celebrate with you next year! Keep scrolling to see Monica and Ronnie’s Detroit, Michigan golden hour engagement session on Belle Isle.
Though it all happened somewhat overnight, Monica and Ronnie were able to plan a really meaningful Detroit, Michigan golden hour engagement session on Belle Isle. The time of day was perfect, the location was significant to them, they stayed true to themselves and their relationship and they gave themselves permission to be silly and have fun with it, all of which led to Monica telling me, “That was so much fun!” at the session (which is pretty much the best thing I can hear after an engagement session 🙂 ).
