After moving across the country together, Abby and Adam’s timeless Detroit engagement on digital and film was a great way to capture their story in the city that started it all. Abby and Adam met online and went on their first date at Market North End in Birmingham, Michigan. Two years later, with remote work flexibility, they decided to move to Arizona. They later called Wisconsin, Colorado and northern Michigan home before returning back to the Detroit area.
Abby and Adam told me they were nervous for their Detroit engagement session having never been through professional photos before. I hear this from about 90% of the couples I work with and in the end, we always have a great time. At the end of the day, it’s about allowing yourself to simply enjoy 2 hours of uninterrupted time with your favorite person. If you do that, the rest comes easily. (Here are 5 tips for a meaningful engagement session!)
Abby looked stunning with her hair and makeup done by The Shampagne Room. There’s no better excuse to be professionally glammed than your engagement photo and wedding. This is especially true if you’re feeling a bit nervous about being in front of the camera. Who doesn’t love a little confidence boost!
We started our time together at the Detroit Institute of Arts in midtown Detroit before heading over to Belle Isle – two of my favorite engagement photo locations in downtown Detroit.
Abby and Adam’s timeless Detroit engagement on digital and film turned out great with one of the best sunsets of the summer. They wore more formal outfits at the start, perfect for the classic architecture of the DIA. Then, on Belle Isle, they changed into a more casual day-to-day look. This is always great for frolicking around the park, laying in the grass and strolling along the beach. In the end, Abby and Adam both left their Michigan engagement session saying “that was actually really fun!” I can’t wait for the St. Clair Inn wedding next year.
