Adrienne and Mark’s timeless wedding at Lovett Hall was a beautiful and special way to end the wedding season as a Detroit wedding photographer. I met Adrienne at a gym in Detroit, Trvfit, several years ago. She had since moved away to Texas with Mark but when she reached out about photographing her wedding, I was so excited!
Adrienne and Mark held their ceremony at Old St. Mary’s Catholic Church in downtown Detroit followed by a cocktail hour and reception at The Henry Ford Museum’s Lovett Hall in Dearborn.
They both started the day at the amazing (and oh-so photo perfect) Cambria Hotel to get ready. Adrienne was glammed by Primp Me Up Beauty before we took photos around the hotel. I love Cambria’s bar on the reception level floor. It’s so fun and that chandelier makes for fun and moody wedding photos.
Adrienne and Mark chose not to do a first-look and instead, stick to tradition of seeing one another for the first time at the altar. Therefore, we did photos of each of their wedding party sides but did the rest of their photos after the ceremony.
Their ceremony at Old St. Mary’s Catholic Church was beautiful. I’ll always love a long church aisle bridal moment. I had Brittany working alongside me that day as my second photographer which was perfect to get Adrienne coming down the aisle with her dad from the back with Mark and the church altar in front of her. That’s always a photo I love being able to capture in a large church when there’s two of us.
Following their ceremony, we quickly wrapped up their family photos at the altar before running over to the Henry Ford Museum with only a few minutes to spare before the museum closed. Mark’s dad actually changed one of the tires of a car featured in the museum during a race. Of course, a quick family photo with the car was in order. After that, Adrienne, Mark and their wedding party and I ran around the museum’s beautiful hallways and the infamous staircase. The Henry Ford Museum is perfect for a winter wedding thanks to all of its stunning indoor areas. The chandeliers give it a romantic feeling, perfecting for couple photos.
Meanwhile, their guests enjoyed cocktail hour and some passed appetizers on the first floor of Lovett Hall. A Midtown Strings duet set the ambience perfectly with instrumental covers of popular songs.
Just a few minutes before opening the reception doors to their guests, Adrienne and Mark chose to sneak up to the ballroom to see all their hard work come together. The ballroom looked stunning with tons of candles, white floral arrangements and greenery by Petit Fleur Events. With the chandeliers of Lovett Hall, it was glowing and perfectly romantic and timeless.

After the grand entrance, Adrienne and Mark immediately went to cut their cake by Sorella’s Cake Studio in the middle of the dance floor. Their kiss after cutting the cake is one of my favorite photos of the year. I love the glow of the room, the two of them and their cake and their guests behind them. To make this moment happen, right before guests arrived into the ballroom, I turned their cake around a bit so the background would be their guests instead of their DJ and his equipment. These little adjustments (that mostly go unnoticed by couples and guests) are always my little secret but make a big difference in the photos and their significance after the wedding day.
Following some great speeches, dinner was served and once again, Midtown Strings provided perfect dinner music throughout the evening. After the dessert station and their cake was set out near the bar it was time to dance. To get the party started, Adrienne and Mark shared their first dance followed by dances with their parents before opening up the dance floor for the night. Once the lights came down, the glow of the ballroom really came to life! I loved the glow of the candelabras of the long tables and I had a great time capturing the mood and light in so many different ways.
Adrienne and Mark’s timeless Lovett Hall wedding was such a treat to be a part of. Everything about the day was beautiful, classic and romantic. I can’t wait to be back at the Henry Ford Museum soon for Hannah and Garret’s wedding this year!
