Emily and Romain are planning a destination wedding in the south of France, so when it came time for their engagement session, they wanted to be in the city where their relationship started: Detroit. As someone with an appreciation for beautiful details, design and architecture, Emily loves the Fisher Building. The historic building made for the perfect backdrop to their timeless and chic style. Emily and Romain’s glamorous engagement at the Fisher Building turned out beautiful and was a great way to celebrate their love story in Detroit.
Emily wore a champagne silk dress from Revolve and was glammed by Roman Beauty. Together, their style complemented the gold interior of the Fisher Building really well. We started in the main arcade at the lower level of the building and then worked our way around the floor. As a Detroit engagement photographer, it was fun to play with different lighting and styles within the Fisher. From direct flash photography to highlight the metallic color and shine, to darker, moodier ambient lighting that conveys the romantic side of the venue.
From there, we went outside for a change of scenery and light. During the engagement session, unfortunately, the exterior of the Fisher Building was under construction and covered in scaffolding. Instead, we went across the street to Cadillac Place for similar architectural style. Emily and Romain popped a bottle of champagne in front of the gold revolving door. The enjoyed a glass together, toasting to their engagement, before we wrapped up our time together and headed back to the Fisher Building.
Emily and Romain’s glamorous engagement at the Fisher Building was a blend of editorial vibes and more candid, storytelling moments. The Fisher Building is a beautiful backdrop for an engagement session in Detroit. The building allows professional photography free of charge across the main level provided there are no private events!
