Ande and Ronnie’s summer wedding at Stonegate Farm in Lapeer, Michigan, was a vibrant testament to their love, personalities…and 13 years together. Having been together since high school, Ronnie’s proposal to Ande while they were vacationing in Hawaii with her family was long awaited. Together, they are total spitfire, energizer bunny personalities (especially Ande) and fill every moment together with fun, jokes and laughter. I knew within 10 minutes of first ever talking to them (and within the first 30 seconds of their epic, rainy engagement session) that their wedding day was going to be a good one. So naturally, their day embodied their energy and gave, as Ande described it, “bohemian farmhouse meets Christmas in July” vibes.
Both Ande and Ronnie got ready at Stonegate Farm after staying there the night prior with their wedding party. Ande and her tribe got ready in the charming estate house while Ronnie and the guys got ready in the barn’s loft above the reception area.
Ande’s was a showstopper in her big, bold and stunning Essense of Australia dress from Bella Bridal Gallery. Ronnie had the perfect accessories to match with a floral tie and colorful boutonniere from Blossoms on Main. Before the ceremony, Ande and Ronnie shared a precious first look outside the main house. Ronnie’s tearful reaction to seeing Ande was one of the best moments of the day. From there, we wandered the property while taking photos before they retreated to the air conditioning to get ready for the ceremony.
The wedding ceremony itself was a heartwarming reflection of Ande and Ronnie’s journey together, held outside alongside a pon. As a thoughtful touch, to help beat the heat, guests were provided parasols and fans. Ronnie’s cousin, Nick, officiated the ceremony with the perfect blend of heartfelt anecdotes, sweet stories, minimal roasting of the couple and plenty of laughter. And as she came down the aisle, Ande surprised Ronnie with the addition of a cathedral length veil to her look! With 13 years of love leading up to this moment, I spotted a mix of tears and smiles throughout the crowd. And even having done a first look, both Ande and Ronnie couldn’t hold back the tears when it came time to meet at the altar.
Following the ceremony, the family and wedding party stuck around for photos while guests enjoyed an outdoor cocktail hour. The summer heat couldn’t dampen the spirits of this lively group, as they relished every moment…and enjoyed some chilled champagne off their champagne wall.
As the sun began to set, the celebration moved indoors to the large, industrial yet bright barn space at Stonegate Farm. Here, Ande and Ronnie’s vision of a rustic, country wedding with a modern, eclectic twist came to life with fun and personal touches. From the personalized coasters Ande and her sister handcrafted for each guest, to their whoopie pie table and memory table featuring past family wedding photos, they snuck in fun details reflective of their personalities wherever possible. And of course, following one of my favorite trends, the cake featured a special guest of honor, Toby, their beloved dog, getting an early taste of the cake
After making their grand entrance and cutting the cake, guests heard a few speeches before they opened up to a wonderful dinner buffet from Crank’s Catering (seriously, so good!).
Then, they opened up the dance floor with special dances with their parents. One of my personal favorite and touching moments of the night was watching Ande’s face as Ronnie shared a dance with his mother. Despite their constant jokes and laughter, you can’t overlook how much these two love each other. From there on, it was party time as DJ Chris London kept the dance floor going all night.
Of course, with a perfectly sunny, clear summer day, while their guests danced, we had to step outside to take in the epic sunset outfront with a few more photos.
Ande and Ronnie’s colorful summer wedding at Stonegate Farm in Lapeer, Michigan was a joyful and vibrant summer day, the perfect reflection of their personalities and the love they share. It was a day filled with laughter, tears, and so many fun moments.
