A Surprise Proposal at Matthaei Botanical Gardens

Shanal planned a surprise proposal at Matthaei Botanical Gardens in Ann Arbor, Michigan for Sanika while they were in town for the weekend. Shanal and Sanika have actually been legally married for one year but he never formally proposed. So, Shanal wanted to formally ask Sanika to marry him (before they celebrate with their loved ones at the end of the year) in a beautiful setting. With their Indian culture, rings are not always a part of the proposal and so while there was no ring exchanged, it didn’t stop Shanal from dropping down on one knee and asking Sanika to marry him, again. It made for a sweet moment in the botanical gardens. 

Shanal and Sanika arrived looking super dapper at 11am, so I spotted them in seconds and lurked around the conservatory as they wandered through, and eventually made their way to the garden out back. When Shanal spotted me, he quickly dropped to one knee and Sanika was so surprised, she was shaking!

From there, we took a few photos around the conservatory and gardens before heading out front along the pond. It was a beautiful morning and I’m so happy for Shanal and Sanika!
