Despite moving up our start time in anticipation of heavy thunderstorms rolling through the area, it turned out to be a perfectly sunny (and hot) downtown Ann Arbor engagement session for Ana and Quinn. While they’ll be getting married in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Ana and Quinn decided to come over to southeast Michigan for their engagement session and explore Ann Arbor’s Liberty and Main Street areas. We met at Ann Arbor Coffee Roasting Co., in the early afternoon, grabbed a drink, and then strolled past the Michigan and State Theaters, making our way to Main Street. It’s always fun choosing downtown or more urban areas as a location for the engagement session because we can take a bit of a “we’ll see what we find” approach. As we walked, I stopped Ana and Quinn when inspiration or a spot I loved came along, and in other moments, I left them on their own to explore and window shop.
We went back to Ann Arbor Coffee so Ana and Quinn could quickly change into a second, more casual outfit and then reconvened at Nichols Arboretum for the second half of their session. The drizzly and cloudy morning was turning into a partly sunny and very hot and humid day which made for some more dramatic and fun lighting in the final few minutes of the shoot.
Ana and Quinn’s sunny downtown Ann Arbor engagement session was the perfect balance between a more populated, downtown area and a natural, outdoor setting. I’m excited for their late fall wedding at the Goei Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan! Keep scrolling to see how their engagement session turned out:
