A Sunny At Home and Marshbank Park Engagement | Alana and Matthew

Alana and Matthew’s sunny at-home and Marshbank Park engagement session was a heartfelt celebration of their love story. Their waterfront backyard was a cozy haven for intimate moments and some play time with their dog, Wrigley before heading to Marshbank Park in West Bloomfield to take in the perfect sunset. 

Alana and Matthew love to spend time in their beautiful lakefront home so it was a great place to start their session. This made it simple and convenient to involve their dog in the engagement photos too! Not to mention too that Alana, as a food blogger and the creative genius behind Your Home Made Healthy, spends her fair share of time in the kitchen. And I know Matthew appreciates her cooking so it only made sense to also sneak a few photos in the kitchen too. 

After changing into a more formal look, we ventured over to Marshbank Park to finish off the session and take in the perfect sunny spring night. As the sun was setting, it cast a warm golden glow over the small park’s greenery, boardwalk and water, peeking through the trees perfectly. Alana has a very timeless and classic style and the park was a beautiful, neutral environment that perfectly complimented her vision.

 I love at home engagement sessions, especially if being at home or a certain space in your house is an important part of your relationship. If you’re nervous about having your photos taken, or like Alana and Matthew, you’d describe yourselves as “just not picture people” then starting off your engagement pictures in your home can help get you comfortable. Since you’re in a familiar space, in comfortable, casual clothes and in an environment you know (with no strangers or spectators other than me and maybe a pet or two), it’s a fun way to ease into the session. From there, you’ll be more used to it all when it’s time to move to another location, if you choose to.
