Ande and Ronnie’s rainy backyard engagement photos are just another example of why embracing what the weather gives you can be totally magical and adds to the fun of it all. Despite the drizzle that persisted throughout the entire two-hour session, Ande and Ronnie embraced the weather without hesitation, trusting my vision completely, which is always such a treat and opens up lots of possibilities. Their adventurous engagement photos captured their vibrant, carefree and easygoing personalities, perfectly showcasing just how much fun they love to have together.
Ande and Ronnie are both from Milford, Michigan and call themselves homebodies. They love being together, at home and hanging out with their dog Toby. So we decided to hold the session entirely in the backyard of Ronnie’s childhood home and it was perfect. With tons of land with a great field and treeline, a small trail and the house nearby, it made for the perfect location for Ande and Ronnie. Not to mention, the convenience of having the house to change outfits and dry off quickly saved on drive time and allowed for more time to play, filling their gallery with a lot of variety.
Ande wanted to capture them with Toby, capture their fun and playful nature along with more intimate and personal engagement photos. So after changing into the second outfit, the rain grew a little stronger, providing a romantic ambiance that perfectly complemented their deep connection and made for a unique, moody setting. I played around with throwing a ziploc bag over my lens (one of my favorite tricks!) for soft, sensual images and Ande and Ronnie didn’t shy away from lying in the grass or getting a little wet. It was amazing!
As the sun disappeared, they changed into their third and final outfit, and we decided to celebrate with a second bottle of champagne, sparking the idea of a unique and grainy shot in front of their car headlights. The spontaneous moment captured their playful spirits and the moody evening perfectly. Not to mention, who doesn’t want to pop champagne and dance around in the rain with the love of their life?
The rain added a touch of magic to their session, turning the drizzle into a whimsical, unique and moody backdrop for Ande and Ronnie’s rainy backyard engagement photos. It’s just a reminder that love knows no weather, and the true beauty lies in the genuine and adventurous moments shared between two souls. I love these two humans and I can’t wait for their fall wedding day at Stonegate Farm in Lapeer, Michigan. Curious what rain on a wedding day can mean for your photos?
