Emily and Kellen’s Huron-Manistee engagement photos with a beach bonfire were just about as “Michigan” as it gets. Up north, in the forests, lakefront, the beach, a bonfire – I don’t think it gets much more Michigan lake life in the fall than that.
We all made the trip from Detroit to meet in East Tawas, Michigan for this destination engagement session. Emily’s family has a cabin along Lake Huron where she and Kellen love spending time together, so it was the perfect place for their engagement photos. To start, we headed into Huron-Manistee National Forest. Emily was going for a woodsy whimsical vibe, and with the sun peaking through the trees at Lumberman’s Monument, I’d say we got the vibe. After spending some time in the forest we pulled over on our way home for some fun in-the-middle-of-the-road photos.
We continued their East Tawas, Michigan engagement session back at the cabin. Emily and Kellen made a quick outfit change and then we headed down to the beach. Despite a windy and chilly fall day, Emily and Kellen had some fun playing in the water, sitting in the sand dunes and popping champagne.
And as the sun came down, with one last outfit change, Kellen lit a campfire while Emily made spiked apple ciders for all of us. Emily loves sitting around the bonfire and making s’mores so that’s exactly what we did to round out our time together. I loved spending the day with Emily and Kellen exploring the East Tawas area and taking in the outdoors.
