Samantha and Holden’s boho disco ball wedding on new years eve was a dream. After having a great time during their snowy engagement session along Lake Huron in Lexington, Michigan, I knew their wedding day was going to be just as fun, if not better (and it was!)
Samantha and Holden were both in school to become special education teachers when they met while substitute teaching at a local school. They became friends and would go out to lunch until one day, Holden kissed Sam in the Leo’s Coney Island parking lot! And almost 5 years later, they got married and celebrated with a boho, disco ball themed wedding! Their New Year’s Eve bash at The Eastern in Detroit’s Eastern Market neighborhood was the perfect way to end the year.
The morning of the wedding, I met the girls in their room at Detroit’s Motor City Casino Hotel.
Meanwhile, Samantha (my 2nd photographer haha) met up with Holden and his groomsmen at their home. Sam and Holden exchanged gifts, the girls were glammed up by Team Glam Detroit while the guys got into their Jos. A Bank suits. Sam slipped into her stunning boho dress from Beloved Bridal. Once everyone was ready to go, we all met at The Detroit Institute of Art where Sam and Holden did their first-look. And after some photos, we headed downtown Detroit to Parker’s Alley and the Z Lot for more photos and to pop some champagne.
Sunset is early during December in Michigan and for Samantha and Holden, having plenty of time for photos together and with their wedding party was a priority. So naturally, they chose to do a first-look and we did most of their wedding day photos before their ceremony at St. Ambrose in Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan. This way, after the ceremony, all that was left was a few family photos and then Samantha and Holden got to chill while Sam and I photographed their amazing disco ball wedding decor at The Eastern before kicking off the New Years celebrations.
The very industrial Eastern was totally transformed into a glamorous and romantic boho New Year’s Eve bash by 1945 Event Co. with fun dried florals by Alex Nazar Florals. When it was time for their grand entrance, Samantha and Holden and their wedding party paraded in before throwing confetti poppers into the crowd and pouring champagne over their champagne tower. This Michigan winter wedding was a great way to end the year. There was delicious food, drinks and champagne were flowing, delicious cake, a balloon arch over the live band, and disco balls everywhere. And of course, what’s a New Year’s Eve wedding without fun props and a balloon drop at midnight!
Sam and I had a great time celebrating the end to a busy wedding year at Samantha and Holden’s boho disco ball wedding on new years eve. These two are so fun and sweet, that spending New Years celebrating them was a total treat! (And so was their cake from Homestead Kitchen. Don’t ask me how many slices I had…) I absolutely love how their wedding turned out and it wouldn’t be possible without their amazing crew of wedding vendors.
