Angela and John’s pajama party engagement photos at the Foundation Hotel in Detroit are some of my all-time favorites thanks to their creativity. I always suggest to couples, if it makes sense for you and your personal styles, to do two looks for the engagement session. The first can be more formal. Think of an elevated version of yourself, but still true to you. The second can be a casual, everyday look. This way, you basically get two sessions in one and a lot of variety in your photos.
Well, Angela and John took that to a whole new level. They started out in a black-tie look. Then, they rounded out their engagement pictures in pajamas. I love it! It’s the perfect compliment to the black-tie wedding they’re planning at the Detroit Savings Bank next year and their fun personalities.
When choosing their location for their Michigan engagement session, they immediately mentioned booking a suite at the Foundation Hotel in downtown Detroit because John loves the aesthetic. With the wooden walls, a pool table in the room, large windows and a king sized bed, it was a great location for a snazzy yet intimate setting. Originally, the plan was to start formal at the hotel. Then, we’d hit the town outside in their more casual look. But after not being able to decide on a second outfit, Angela and John decided at the last minute to buy pajamas instead and just stay at the hotel for the entirety of the session. And man, was it fun!
With their very own little pajama party at the Foundation Hotel, their engagement session was a fantastic alternative to in-home engagement photos. And for Angela and John, it was also an excuse for a quick one night getaway to a downtown Detroit luxury hotel.
