I could photograph engagement sessions in downtown Detroit and on Belle Isle once a week and I don’t think I’d get totally bored of it. There’s something different or new every single time and each couple brings their own personality and energy to the session, so the results are never the same. Hannah and Matt’s spring engagement session in downtown Detroit was a beautiful evening and man did we cover some ground.
I met up with Hannah and Matt at The Brakeman downtown for a drink so we could catch up and get to know each other (and when you’re nervous to be in front of the camera, a little liquid courage can take the edge off…) before heading out for their engagement session.
We started with a few photos out front of the Brakeman before roaming around downtown and landing at the Z Lot parking lot. About halfway through the 2-hour session, Hannah and Matt changed into their second outfits and we met on Belle Isle at the James Scott Memorial Fountain. From there we made a loop around Belle Isle, hitting a couple of my favorite spots on the island before ending the evening at Sunset Point in front of what turned into a beautiful sunset!
Spring in Detroit is a great time to take engagement pictures and sunsets at Belle Isle just never get old. These two were such a gem, and even though Matt was a bit nervous about getting photos taken, by the end, he even admitted to having fun. I can’t wait for their late winter wedding at The Colony Club in Detroit next year!!

Hannah and Matt’s spring engagement session in downtown Detroit came with an amazing sunset and I truly believe every couple should have an engagement session (which is why all local wedding collections include a complimentary engagement session, but you can ask me about that over here). Wondering why? Read my top 5 reasons why you should have an engagement session!
