Couple’s engagement shoot with dark lighting and high fashion

Every year for the past couple years, Alistair and I do a photo shoot for his birthday! This year, we took things indoors and Alistair opted for a casual in-studio session at West Studio in Ferndale, Michigan. During the 1.5 hour session with pop music setting the mood and celebratory champagne on hand, Alistair (a lover of fashion) wore two outfits and even had a fun visit from a friend and his boyfriend which meant ending the session with a few photos of Alistair with each of them.

In-studio portrait sessions, whether individual, couples or families are becoming one of my favorites! While sessions on location are perfect for storytelling, adding the personal touch of a sentimental location or a scenery that’s significant to you and who you are, studio sessions are a great way to take the pressure of choosing the perfect location off and making everything just about you and the connection between you and your partner, friends or family.
