Abury was so excited to book her family mini session in the fall with her family! Her son, Karnell recently turned 8 but thanks to COVID, the schools hadn’t done picture day so she was long overdue for photos of him. And to make things even more special, Abury and Richard are expecting their second child any day now!
The mini session was 20 minutes and it was the most perfect (and totally weird) 70 degree sunny day in November in Michigan… and we started the family session on Belle Isle in Detroit, Michigan in front of the James Scott Memorial Fountain before meandering over to the fields across from the Belle Isle Casino. The Owens family was a dream to work with and we captured so many sweet memories in those 20 minutes.
I loved the way they coordinated the rust colors and their outfits without being overly matchy matchy. It was a perfect, casual family look for fall photos. Keep scrolling through to see how this late fall family mini session on Belle Isle went!
In a day full of mini sessions, Abury and her family were a dream to work with and we had so much fun in those 20 minutes. Karnell was equally as excited to have his photo taken as Abury and Richard and we couldn’t have asked for better weather in the fall, here in Michigan. Mini sessions are a great option for family photos and perfect for updating the photos around your wall as kids grow and the seasons of life change! 20 minutes may sound short but in practice, it’s the perfect amount of time for a quick family photo session that’s fun and effective without demanding too much time and focus from young kids.
Detroit mini sessions are available in the spring and fall each year, perfect for the end of the school year and for holiday photos. Mini session dates fill up fast!
