Ingrid and Drew’s classic tent wedding at Metamora Golf Club was a highlight of the summer wedding season. I’m grateful to work with really wonderful and fun couples all around but it’s always a special treat when I get to work with friends.
I met Drew in college our freshman year at the University of Michigan when we were in the same class! It was one of those first year required classes that everyone hates (English or writing I think?). Anyways, the funny part is that I remember Drew telling me about his girlfriend Ingrid and that they were long-distance at the time. After our freshman year, we’d see each other around campus sometimes but we didn’t cross paths as often and after graduating, we were all doing our own thing. So it was really cool when several years later, Drew reached out because he had just gotten engaged and it was to INGRID!! You know, that girl I heard about freshman year years earlier??
And if that’s not a good story, the best is how Ingrid and Drew met. These two met senior year of high school while on spring break in Punta Cana during high school. Each of their friend groups had booked the same resort for the week and Drew caught Ingrid’s attention at the sports bar in the resort. They started talking, realized they were from the same metro Detroit area and by the end of their trip, they decided they wanted to see each other again when they got home.
When they got back to Michigan, Ingrid was too nervous to go out to dinner with Drew alone on a first date, so instead she invited him over for dinner with his parents and he was a hit with the family. That night, he also surprised her with flowers and a cookie asking her to his prom! At prom, he asked her to be his girlfriend. From there, their relationship survived going to different colleges, post-grad life, first jobs, covid and buying a new house so it was clear that meeting in Punta Cana was fate for them.
There was so much within their story to celebrate and with family and friends that have long been rooting for them since high school, the energy and excitement surrounding their day was high. Ingrid and Drew’s classic tent wedding at Metamora Golf Club was one of the best. Ingrid was beyond organized prior to the big day, so when the day came, she was the most chill, relaxed and calm bride, whose only concern was loving and taking in every second of the day. In her words, “the only thing that could go wrong is the bar running out!”
Ingrid and Drew rented Maple Cove Bed and Breakfast where they each got ready in different houses on the property with their wedding party. It was a perfect getting ready space and with woods surrounding the property, we had so many photo locations to play with for their first-look and wedding party photos. Being able to stay all around one property made for a relaxed and stress-free morning, saving a lot of travel time. After photos, we all made our way over to Metamora for their stunning ceremony under the club’s well-known oak tree, officiated by Ingrid’s brother, Chris.
After the ceremony and family photos, we took in the beautiful golden hour light starting to develop as we got closer to sunset for a few more photos of Ingrid and Drew. And of course, Gus, their pup had to get some time in front of the camera too! Not to mention, he just loved laying on Ingrid’s dress and claimed it as his spot for photos.
After cocktail hour, guests made their way to their seats for Ingrid and Drew’s entrance. Their entire wedding party immediately met them on the dance floor for a few minutes of dancing and celebrating before they made their way over to cut the cake. And of course, Gus was a part of their DELICIOUS cake from my all time favorite Morning Glory Bakery. Their guests settled in for speeches and dinner before Ingrid and Drew took to the dance floor. I love when couples choose to start with their parent dances, saving their own first dance for last. This way, it was easy to invite their wedding party to immediately join them on the dance floor after and get the party started! With the help of their band, Nick Kuhl and The Gang, the dance floor quickly filled up and stayed the way the entire night! Ingrid made a quick dress and shoe change and when I say, they didn’t leave the dance floor (other than to refill their drinks) I mean it. Their friends and family know how to keep a dance floor going!
Ingrid and Drew’s classic tent wedding at Metamora Golf Club was timeless yet so fun with personalized touches. It was the celebration their amazing love story deserves and such a treat to be a part of.
